Effect of Protein-Based Treatment on Chemical Composition, Hardness and Bond Strength of Remineralized Enamel

Abstract This study evaluated the chemical composition and microhardness of human enamel treated with an Enamel Matrix Derivative (EMD) solution, bond strength between composite resin this enamel. Thirty samples were randomly divided into three groups: Untouched (UE), Demineralized (DE) Treated EMD (ET). DE ET groups subjected to acid challenge (EMD was directly applied over conditioned left for 15 min). Samples from each group (n=4) had assessed through attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR). Knoop (n=10) measured. For microshear strength, etched 30 s, adhesive cured 10 s. Two matrixes placed on samples, filled Filtek Z350 XT 20 each. The matrix removed, tested. Data Kruskal-Wallis test (for microhardness), analysis variance Tukey’s strength); (α=0.05). FTIR results have shown phosphate (hydroxyapatite indicator) in 900-1200 cm-1 bands UE groups, which different group.
